HOW I GOT MARRIED.
HOW I GOT MARRIED.
(By Latunde Akin)
Anyone that will marry you won't stress you.
Forget about ladies or men who try to stress you thinking by stressing you,you will value them more. That's a wrong principle, a wrong mentality.
I remembered trying to stress myself over certain ladies and they eventually rejected. The one that didn't reject ,we still didn't marry because stress or no stress isn't the only determinant of success in marriage proposal.
I have simply come to realise at a point that the peace God gives when you meet people is what matters most. Not the peace you or they think they can give.
My younger sister got wedded and I happened to attend her wedding as big brother. I saw this lady behind her as best lady,so my eye started to roll. I called my younger sister and asked about her. Before that time I had proposed to another sister who rejected the proposal. But I insisted to remain focused and resolute till I see the sister I proposed to, to marry before jumping on another. That was the kind of mindset I had then. No wasn't No to me. I will rather kpai there until I see no reason to kpai there again. That ibo sister showed me pepper
I waited and waited for the sister to marry, she didn't. I actually believed I would be the one to marry her despite her reject. But it got to a point I broke down in tears before the Lord. I wept in prayers for a whole day locking myself up in the room. Studying the book of Ruth and weeping in prayer. Then the light shined upon my heart. I repented of trying to use my own wisdom and skills. Then my mind remembered the best lady to my younger sister which I had already admired casually.
At that point, I decided to test myself by confirming if my mind was thinking right. I determined never to approach her or show her any of my interest. I went straight to tell the marriage committee of the church. Pastor Odemona asked her church and address from me. I didn't know it,so he collected her phone contact and called her right in my presence. She wasn't a member of the church I attended then, but only attended campus fellowship where my younger sister met her.
Everything went so smoothly with the church committee and the sister didn't know it's me until the day I proposed.
Something else happened,I secretly traced and discussed with her mentor, pastor which I saw on her CV. I didn't just believe my mind was communicating God's will. I needed to make personal research too to confirm it. If it doesn't tally,I wouldn't have just believed blindly. Faith isn't against common sense. Her pastor showed me exactly that I am safe. He handled her straight into 29 days fasting for God to show her the man to marry. He didn't tell her it's me.
On the day my church gave me go ahead to propose to her was the day she was concluding her 29 days white fast. She saw me clearly and went to her pastor to tell him. The pastor then told her I am the one that privately came to him. That he wants her to see the man by herself and not him revealing the man.
A day after,I appeared to propose and it was all smooth. She didn't even allow me to say much. No stress, not hustle, no friction. She was already prepared for it by her pastor who puts her through serious spiritual drilling.
Then we began courtship. Then another thing strucked. I lost the job I was doing then. Spiritual attack started and I decided to face it on squarely. I left for the prayer bushes. I became wretched jobwise but remained stubborn praying for the next two years till God answered my prayers.
You could imagine I didn't have time for the woman, no serious organised courtship because all my time was spent in the bushes of prayer. Nothing romantic when a man is facing spiritual battle. Throughout she stood with me without shaking. She was convinced I am her husband. She didn't bother about material things a man should have that i didn't have. She was aware I wasn't a lazy man, I was doing well at the time I proposed, but battle dragged me back to lose nearly everything. And since I was rugged enough to face it squarely in prayers, she knew something good will come out of it.
After 2 years headon praying, I was called by a company and given a job with an official car.
Quickly we got married.
.
The story of the wedding is for another day. Because, I wore my 2 year old black jacket and shoe. I didn't buy any new jacket. And at that time I was in Apostolic Faith Church already.
Listen, you should never bother about what people say about you than what God is saying.
You should never compare your journey with another’s journey because you are not fighting thesame battle.
You should always understand how never to get involved in anything shady against your church marriage rules because on the long run, the devil will use it to stand against you spiritually. Always be sincere and your sincerity will always fight for you.
Mistakes are part of life, so do not condemn yourself when that relationship didn't work. Be humble about it and genuinely repent before the Lord for making such mistakes so He can help you put your pieces together. Yes God will if you are humble enough.
God isn't interested in people without focus, but people who won't double date. Double dating is a clear signal that you're unreliable for a divine help.
Be patient with people, show impact. It's not a good thing that you're only interested in people because you want to marry them. You can always sow seed of impact with no strings attached. Which God will see and use to make a way for you in His own way. (Aside manipulation).
May we learn.
May the peace of God reigns in our marriages.
God bless.
