TO THE LUKEWARM CHURCH
TO THE LUKEWARM CHURCH
- By Latunde Akin
You are parched, yet you fancy yourself flourishing.
Your vast knowledge has inflated your ego, leaving you oblivious to the precipice of darkness upon which you teeter.
You offer prayers ceaselessly, yet they are as tepid as ice water. Your lukewarm prayers fail to enrich your spirit towards God. Despite everything, you delude yourself into believing you are truly praying.
Your blindness is profound, yet you claim to see.
You revel in the nostalgia of past revivals, yet the fire on your altar has long extinguished, leaving only scattered ashes.
You preach doctrine, not life.
You have permitted Satan to occupy your altars with impunity. Jezebels masquerade as daughters of Zion, and you remain oblivious, deaf and mute to this deception.
You don a suit, concealing truths beneath its fabric. Your pretense is unparalleled.
Outwardly organized, yet inwardly decaying.
You take solace in commemorating death, believing it will lead more souls to Jesus—a falsehood from the depths of hell.
Rather than venture out to bring sinners to the church or take the message of salvation to the streets, you boast in your doctrine.
You weep incessantly, believing tears are what God desires. Genuine godly sorrow has vanished, replaced by feigned tears. God seeks not your weeping but your justice, mercy, and faith—how you treat those around you.
You preach the word, yet it lacks the power to heal even a simple headache, let alone save a life. That God honors His word does not imply He is pleased with the vessel. A tainted vessel will eventually contaminate others.
In times past, when the choir ministered, God's presence was palpable among the congregation. The choir's song would barely conclude before the congregation erupted in prayer.
In days of yore, when spirit-filled men preached, the fire of the Holy Spirit moved mightily upon every soul under their ministry. But now, it is but lukewarm water.
Gone are the days when preachers would spend twelve hours in prayer for a forty-minute sermon. Now they indulge in excess, and when they believe they have delivered a solid sermon, God shakes His head in regret.
Now, they ascend the pulpit for damage control when mysterious deaths occur, using Scripture to justify further deaths. Nonsense. Preaching without fire, without solace. Insensitive sermons, telling the bereaved that 200,000 souls depart this world daily.
Teaching the doctrine of predestination incorrectly. Teaching in a manner demons delight in, allowing them to exploit the ignorance of believers under such ministry.
Yet, your adherence to the doctrine of God's word is commendable. The covenant of God remains vibrant in your midst, while you remain spiritually dead without awareness.
Unless your prayer altar burns with fervor, your self-righteousness and acute lukewarmness will continue to nourish the devils among you. You pray, but your prayers lack the intensity to unveil wickedness and ignite genuine revival.
Return to rebuilding your altar, and let your prayers burn with fervor. Your preaching of truth becomes a relic without the fiery energy of prayer. Satan will perpetuate evil among you, and you will mistakenly attribute it to God's doing.
Resist the devil!
Shatter the chains of ignorance. Dismantle the throne of Jezebel in your midst.
Let the fire become unbearable for them.
Then your God will once again rejoice over you.
He did not save you to become lukewarm or defensive. He saved you to wage war against darkness through prayer. You must be fervent!
Arise, O lukewarm church!
Lest your God spew you out!
Lord Jesus, please revive us genuinely once more.
Amen.
